Professional Development Workshop Registration Form
Registration by mail, fax or email is required for these workshops (no registrations will be taken over the phone). Space is limited. Payment must be received with the completed registration form to reserve your space.

Chihuly Teacher Workshop: Community Collaborations, Classroom Innovations
This workshop is offered in collaboration with the Frist Center for Visual Arts.

Workshop Overview:
Educators are invited to participate in this two-part workshop focusing on the works of Dale Chihuly. On Thursday evening September 9, participants will be treated to a special night tour of Chihuly’s glass sculptures while they are illuminated in the Cheekwood gardens. On Friday (Option 1) or Saturday (Option 2) participants will take a private tour of Chihuly’s work, explore standards-based educational materials, and participate in hands-on studio activities. Educators of all grade levels and subject areas are welcome to attend. Classroom resources and lunch will be provided for participating teachers.
Location:
The Thursday evening session and Friday/Saturday morning session will take place at Cheekwood. The Friday/Saturday afternoon session will take place at the Frist Center. Participants will need to provide their own transportation to get from Cheekwood to the Frist Center on Friday/Saturday.
Cost:
$25 for members of Cheekwood or the Frist Center for Visual Arts
$30 for non-members
Credit:
Participants will earn 8 Professional Development hours for attending.

A Celebration of Remembrance: Exploring the Historical and Cultural Traditions of Día de los Muertos
This workshop is offered in conjunction with The Center for Latin American Studies at Vanderbilt.

Workshop Overview:
Cheekwood and The Center for Latin American Studies at Vanderbilt are partnering to offer this day long workshop, which will explore the historical and cultural significance of the Día de los Muertos holiday in Mexico. At this interdisciplinary workshop, participants will hear from Vanderbilt scholars, explore standards-based curriculum connections, create classroom lesson plans, and take part in hands-on studio activities. Educators of all grade levels and subject areas are welcome to attend. Classroom resources and lunch will be provided for participating teachers.

Modern Masters: Discovering the Work of the Most Celebrated Artists of the
Mid-20th Century

Workshop Overview:
Modern Masters from the Smithsonian American Art Museum, explores the work of artists such as Josef Albers, Romare Bearden, Helen Frankenthaler, Louise Nevelson and many others. During this workshop, participants will hear from Vivien Green Fryd, Professor and Chair in the Department of Art History at Vanderbilt, explore standards-based curriculum connections, create classroom lesson plans, and take part in hands-on studio activities. Educators of all grade levels and subject areas are welcome to attend. Classroom resources and lunch will be provided for participating teachers.

Workshop registration fees are non-refundable. If your cancellation is received two weeks in advance, you will receive a credit for a future teacher workshop within the same calendar year.
