April 2 Cloud Painting

This Tuesday, we are looking up! Using the clouds in the sky as our inspiration, we will be creating unique, abstract works of art with shaving cream paint and mixed media materials.

April 9 Painting Possibilities

Are you itching to get messy and have some fun? Dress for mess and stop by the studios to explore many painting possibilities.

April 16 The Dot

Learn about how important one dot can be when creating art, as we read The Dot by Peter Reynolds. Then visit the Robertson Ellis Color Garden and Howe Wildflower Garden to see how all the small colorful flowers create a huge masterpiece!

April 23 Creative Critters

Join us in the studios as we draw our own bug jars and create little critters out of clay and mixed media materials!

April 30 Flower Fun

Celebrate spring at Cheekwood with a project as beautiful as the new blooms in the gardens. Join us in the studio to create our own fun flowers!

April 18 Bulb Bonanza

Cheekwood is brimming with bulbs this spring, with more than 55,000 tulips in 25 varieties and 60 new varieties of daffodils popping up across our grounds. It’s easier than you think to transform your own garden with their lively seasonal exuberance. Join us as Leigh Anne Lomax, Cheekwood’s Botanic Garden and Horticulture Manager, reveals Cheekwood’s best bulb performers and discusses ways to artistically integrate eye-catching bulbs into your own home landscape.

Looking for some new garden treasurers to add to your garden? Check out the Native Plant Sale for an outstanding assortment of spring, summer and fall blooms. Don’t forget the early bird catches the worm at this annual springtime sale. Arrive early for the best selection! Do not miss out on trilliums, celandine poppies, columbines, black-eyed Susans and summer phlox plus our great selection of shrubs, vines, and small trees. There is something for everyone’s garden at the sale.

April 17 Celebrate Howe Wild! Cocktail Supper and Plant Auction

Join us for a magnificent evening as we celebrate the Howe Garden at Cheekwood at Celebrate Howe Wild! Chairs Julie Stadler and Jennie McCabe have planned an extraordinary evening of garden friends, food, and plants. Throughout the evening, remarkable, stunning and even some rare plants will be auctioned off to add to your garden. These treasures are must haves for any plant connoisseur. Join us for an evening full of garden friends and wine as we celebrate the Howe Garden at Cheekwood chaired by Shea Ghertner and Mary Morgan Ketchel. Jane O. MacLeod, President and CEO of Cheekwood, will speak on "Cheekwood: Nashville's National Treasure ". This event benefits the Howe Garden at Cheekwood. Cheekwood is the best place in Nashville to experience one of nature’s most dramatic and exciting performances—the arrival of spring! We’ll welcome the new season during Cheekwood in Bloom, with 55,000 stunning tulips of every hue bursting from our gardens. We’ll also feature 60 varieties of daffodils, dogwoods, classic magnolias, vibrant iris, stunning viburnums and so much more. With a full calendar of special spring activities, gardening demonstrations and musical experiences, your perfect spring day is here at Cheekwood—don’t miss it!

April 20 “Canopy Climb” Experience

10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Climb to new heights and explore Cheekwood’s trees like never before! Get a unique ‘tree’s-eye view’ of the Garden as you hang out amongst the branches. Facilitated by a certified international tree-climbing specialist, ascend into the crown of a tree using the same rope and saddle method used by canopy researchers, employing the safest and most versatile climbing techniques for the beginner. The entire experience includes a brief tree-climbing introduction and safety lesson, gear fitting and instruction, ascent, exploration, and descent and lasts approximately 20 minutes.
The Canopy Climb is first-come, first-served and open to adults and children ages 5 and over.
