CHEEKWOOD ANNOUNCES NEW DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS AND DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE

NASHVILLE, TN. – Cheekwood is excited to add two new staff members to its team this spring, just in time for what is anticipated to be one of the busiest seasons in the Nashville institution’s history. Kristin Gelder Paine will serve as Cheekwood’s Deputy Director of External Affairs overseeing all earned and contributed income areas including fundraising, membership, gate admissions, education and public programs, and food service/rental operations. Lauren Smith Hong will serve as Development Associate, providing vital support for fundraising efforts.

MacLeod, President and CEO of Cheekwood. “Paine and Hong will play essential roles in supporting Cheekwood’s strategic growth and vision for national recognition as one of the country’s finest American Country Place Era Estates.”

Kristin Paine comes to Cheekwood following her positions as Deputy Director of Development, Leadership Giving and Deputy Director of Development, Institutional Partnerships for the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco. Her experience includes oversight of major gifts fundraising for the museum, relationship management, and collaborating with community leaders to create cultural partnerships between the museum and public and private sectors. Prior to her position with the Asian Art Museum, Paine served as an Assistant Vice President and Senior Press Officer in the Press Office and Corporate Affairs department for Sotheby’s in New York. While there, she led media campaigns, handled crisis management, and assisted with corporate communications, representing clients from Bono to Chateau Mouton Rothschild. Ms. Paine is a graduate of the University of Virginia.

Lauren Smith Hong comes to Cheekwood from a position as Assistant Vice President for Client Development for Sotheby’s in both London and New York, where her primary focus was contemporary art sales. While there, her contributions helped to execute several of the company’s most successful art auctions to date. Lauren is a Nashville native and attended both the University of Tennessee and the University of Chicago before earning her Masters degree in Art Business from Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.
