CHEEKWOOD HARVEST FALL FESTIVAL AND EVENTS
Festival runs September 21 – October 31


NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Experience one of Tennessee’s most beloved seasons at Cheekwood! A stroll around our grounds during Cheekwood Harvest is a wonderful way to enjoy the crisp fall air and drink in the changing hues of the landscape. We’ll have over 5,000 chrysanthemums planted across our acreage, creating a carpet of rich color to usher in the new season. Pick your favorite pumpkin from our popular patch or spend an afternoon finding more than 30 friendly scarecrows hidden throughout the Turner Seasons garden, each created by a different community group or organization. With weekly featured entertainment, live music, drop-in “Art”ivities in the studio, and some of the most gorgeous weather of the year, Cheekwood Harvest is becoming one of Nashville’s favorite fall traditions!

There will be much to see and do during Cheekwood Harvest, with activities every weekend that will please all members in the household. Following is a full schedule of events for the six week period; complete details are available at cheekwood.org.

SPECIAL FEATURES:
Mum’s the Word
Visit Cheekwood in late September and early October and prepare to be blown away by a fall garden classic: nearly 5,000 gorgeous, autumn-hued chrysanthemums in the Robertson Ellis Color Garden, planted specifically for Cheekwood Harvest.

Scarecrows!
Big and small, spooky and silly … our visitors will find over 30 Scarecrows hiding along the paths at Cheekwood this fall! Each scarecrow is sponsored and created by a different community group or organization, and no two are the same. This lighthearted annual tradition has become a favorite of visitors of all ages—which one will be your favorite?

Trains!
Explore all the details of three amazing outdoor model trains on three separate tracks— a treat for train enthusiasts and young conductors alike, on the lawn across from the Frist Learning Center.

Pumpkins at Cheekwood
Whether you carve it, paint it, or just decorate with it, autumn wouldn’t be complete without the perfect pumpkin. We’re getting in on the fall fun with our own pumpkin patch, where you’re sure to find a beauty or two to take home.

SATURDAYS

Family Studio Drop-In ‘ART’ivities
10am-2pm
Join us in the studios every Saturday for interactive art and nature-themed activities. Using unique materials and methods, visitors young and old can create an art project all their own!

Live Music: Bluegrass in the Herb Garden
10am-1pm
Tap your feet, clap your hands, and sing-along as some of Nashville’s finest musicians bring bluegrass sounds to Cheekwood. Program in partnership with Bluegrass Nation.

Garden Tales Storytime
10:30am
Join us for an exploration into the wide world of literature! Using songs, dance, and interactive reading, your favorite nature-themed books will spring to life.

Guided Garden Tours
11:00am
Take a tour of our living exhibitions with Cheekwood’s knowledgeable guides, stopping to “dig deeper” and further explore the gardens.

Guided Museum Tours

1:00pm - House & History Tour
Explore our galleries with Cheekwood’s knowledgeable docents to learn about the Museum’s history, collections and current exhibitions.

FEATURED ENTERTAINMENT / SPECIALTY PROGRAMS
September 21:
TACA Day: Craft Demonstrations & Pumpkin Carving
10am-2pm
Watch, listen and prepare to be amazed as demonstrators from the Tennessee Association of Craft Artists (TACA) create works of art right before your eyes. They’ll also use their expert skills to carve pumpkins from our patch!

September 28:
Birds of Prey Show Demonstration and “Fly By” by S.O.A.R. (Save Our American Raptors)

Discover the South’s own birds of prey and explore their role in the natural world through music, video, and a live ‘fly by,’ as these creatures zoom over the audience. Part education and part environmental awareness, this exciting program will change the way you look at our local airborne hunters.

October 5:
Harvest Family Concert with The Happy Racers

Who’s ready to rock?! Grab your dancin’ shoes and pack a picnic for this family-friendly concert in the beautiful autumn air. The Happy Racers will have you on your feet in no time!

October 12:
Nashville Public Library Puppet Truck presents: Hansel and Gretel
12:00pm
Once upon a time a very poor woodcutter lived in a tiny cottage in the forest with his two children, Hansel and Gretel. Watch as the Nashville Public Library and Wishing Chair Productions bring the adventures of this brother and sister team to life. This version of the classic Brothers Grimm fairy tale is told with the charming and historic Peeko Puppets.

October 19:
Extreme Pumpkin Carving
10:00am–2:00pm
‘Tis the season for pumpkin carving! Watch as expert carver and sculpture Lundy Cupp transforms ordinary pumpkins into incredibly detailed works of art. As he works, he’ll explain his process, inspiration and reveal tricks of the trade.

October 26:
Canopy Climb Experience
10:00am-2:00pm
Climb to new heights and get a ‘tree’s-eye view’ of Cheekwood with the help of a certified International Tree Climbing Specialist. The experience will lasts about 20 minutes and includes gear-fitting, tutorial, ascent, exploration, and descent. This activity is a first-come, first served and open to children ages 7 and older.

Guided Garden Tour

Guided Museum Tour
House and History: Cheekwood as a Country Place Estate
1:00pm
Cheekwood is one of the nation’s finest examples of a Country Place Estate. Join one of our expert docents to discover the history of the Cheek family and explore Cheekwood’s place in the country estate era.

Drawing Room Concert Series featuring Belmont University’s School of Music
2:00pm
Cheekwood is honored to partner with Belmont’s School of Music for a second time to offer a fall concert series in the Museum’s intimate Drawing Room.

HARVEST SPECIAL EVENTS
LIGHT: BRUCE MUNRO AT CHEEKWOOD CELEBRATING FALL EQUINOX
September 21 Until 11:00 pm Cheekwood will celebrate the Fall Equinox on September 21 with a special, unprecedented Saturday night opportunity to view the exhibition. This event will follow the same format as the popular Friday evening viewings throughout the summer, with cash bars stationed throughout the grounds and bands playing live music tucked into the gardens, adding to the enchanted feel.

GOBLINS IN THE GARDEN
Tuesday, October 29

10:30am – Trick or Treat Trail begins!
Scare up your favorite silly or spooky costume and join us for a ghoulish good time at the 7th annual Goblins in the Garden. We’ll be trick-or-treating our way through the gardens at 10:30am from Botanic Hall’s Massey Auditorium, as well as enjoying frighteningly fun entertainment and crafts. Count on spooky surprises, special treats, and a howling good time!
