Visitor Service Representatives- Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while welcoming visitors, directing and answering inquires and processing parking fees, ticketing & memberships.

Gardeners-Provides assistance with general landscape maintenance including, bulb planting, raking, weeding, mowing and trimming.

Gift Shop Sales Associate-Responsible for providing exceptional customer service while selling, unpacking, and pricing merchandise within the store standards and practices. 

Wait Staff- Responsible for ensuring all food and beverage items are presented correctly while providing exceptional customer service to guests.

Bartender- Implements the outside bar set up and break down, pulling and stocking bars, sales and inventory documentation, prepare drinks and deliver exceptional service to patrons while maintaining high quality customer service.

Prep Cook-Responsible for preparing dishes accurately for the Pineapple Room Restaurant with detail to presentation.

Host/Hostess- Provides exceptional customer service while greeting & seating patrons in our Pineapple Room Restaurant. 

Security Attendants-Responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment. Must have a valid State of Tennessee Unarmed Guard License and valid driver’s license.

Parking Attendants-Responsible for directing visitors, and monitoring parking spaces while providing high quality customer service.

Help Desk Technician- Responsible for install, troubleshoot, maintain, support and repair personal computer systems and related peripheral equipment for Cheekwood, including wireless hand-held equipment, POS hardware, Microsoft O/S networks and servers, printers, and various peripherals.

Reindeer Keeper-Responsible for the care, welfare, and safety of reindeer exhibit; maintains the physical quarters and surroundings; answers questions and gives information to the visiting public. Must have at least one year experience working with farm or exotic animals.

Maintenance-Responsible for general maintenance activities, including cleaning, construction projects, painting and setting up for events. Must have the ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds. Must have valid driver’s license and the availability to work Thursday-Sunday.

 

 SECURITY COORDINATOR
Cheekwood is seeking an experienced Security Coordinator. This position shall be responsible for all regular security & parking staff deployment and for all special after hours/events security requests. The Security Coordinator will have the full authority and responsibility of the Security Manager in their absence.
           
• Assures appropriate scheduling of security staff & parking to cover all necessary posts  including events and additional requirements as defined by particular exhibits
• Closely monitors the daily security logs and follows-up with security and other staff as appropriate with regard to reporting maintenance and other logged issues
• Jointly responsible for key control, alarm codes and alarm system maintenance, including regular testing of alarm systems
• Conducts security, fire, safety and inspections and surveys including recommending corrective actions required
• Assists with hiring, training, motivating and supervising the security & parking staff members, in reference to the visitor guidelines, policies, procedures, regulations and best practices.  Directs, instructs and evaluates staff regularly with attention to professionalism and customer service.
• Assists with developing, administering and coordinating protective activities according to established museum policies and organizational protocols
• Assures fire extinguishers and First-Aid kits are up to date, available in all appropriate locations and maps of extinguishers are posted in all staff areas; assure fire exit maps are also posted in all staff areas.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have a High school diploma, or equivalent, and formal training in security and protection; must maintain a valid State of Tennessee Security Guard License & Driver’s License. Must also have knowledge of fire and police methods, protection, problems and solutions; the ability to plan and manage effective protective services and multi-tasking; ability to create thorough documentation; perform duties under stress; strong oral and written communications; supervisory experience in an industrial, commercial, municipal, recreational or military establishment or related protection services experience. This is a part-time (28 hours a week) position.

GROUNDS MANAGER

Reporting to the Botanical Garden & Horticulture Manager this position will manage the care,   maintenance, and renovation of all turf grass and tree care at Cheekwood. Establishes and implements grounds/turf development and maintenance goals, policies and procedures. Ensures adherence to all relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards.


•    Responsible for all turf maintenance, including fertilization and pesticide application, mowing of both formal and informal areas, aeration, over-seeding, sodding, and repair. Manage pesticide and sod contractors in turf areas.
•    Acts as a working professional to perform general landscape maintenance required including weeding, planting, pruning, irrigation, fertilizing, pest control, spraying, trimming, etc.
•    Oversees irrigation system, including maintenance, repair, winterizing, and mapping. Schedule and manage irrigation contractor’s onsite. Also, includes management of the irrigation pumps and other irrigation equipment for the gardens and grounds.
•    Responsible for all the care and maintenance of all outdoor equipment used in the Botanical Garden Department and developing and implementing routine maintenance schedules of all equipment.
•    Operates and is responsible for the daily care maintenance of all equipment which includes: backpack blowers, rototillers, Cushman Trucksters, E-Z-Go Trucksters, Toro Groundsmaster mowers, Toro push lawnmowers, chain saws, tractor and bush hog, gasoline edger’s, pressure washer, etc.
•    Identifies special needs for immediate management action, including hazard limb removal, health and safety issues, invasive plant control, pest problems, and irrigation failures. Reports these needs and concerns to the Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager.
•    Performs some tree work, including heavy pruning and light removals.
•    Maintains areas of responsibility in a clean and formal manner with respect to the garden mission and design and Cheekwood’s standards for horticultural excellence.
•    Works to maximize quantity of work produced and conscious of efficient time management. Must be flexible to work in an ever-changing environment and juggling tasks.
•    Motivates, trains, and supervises paid and unpaid garden staff, including seasonal interns and volunteers in assigned areas of responsibilities.
•    Responsible for Woodland Sculpture Trail maintenance which includes general trail clean up and invasive plant removals - January through March.
•    Responsible for securing all equipment at the end of each day and notifying the Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager of any needs.
•    Develops and manages budgets related to turf management and grounds.
•    Purchases, maintains, and manages inventory of turf/grounds maintenance equipment and supplies.
•    Assists coworkers with special projects as determined by the Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager.
•    Performs related work as required which includes, but is not limited to, garden work such as planting bulbs.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an associate or bachelor of science/arts degree or equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience and at least five years turf grass or landscape maintenance experience in Public Horticulture, golf course management, estate maintenance or related field. This person must have an eye and appreciation for detail, interest in growing with the organization and possess a responsible professional attitude towards career.  The Grounds Manager must have the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs., willing to work in all types of weather conditions and have a valid pesticide applicator certification or willing to obtain one within one year of employment. This is a full-time position with competitive benefits.

 HORTICULTURIST

The Horticulturist will manage the design, installation, care and presentation of permanent and temporary horticultural displays in the Robertson Ellis Color Garden and other assigned areas, to Cheekwood’s standards for horticulture excellence. Provides assistance to the management team of the Botanical Garden in the horticultural operation of Cheekwood by acting as a team leader in responsible areas; troubleshooting garden problems and prioritizing tasks; evaluating crops for future display feasibility; monitoring, diagnosing and treating insect, disease, physiological and cultural conditions; and effectively supervising volunteers, interns and staff.

  •  Collaborates with Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager in creating horticultural displays and care of the gardens.
  • Acts as a working professional to perform general landscape maintenance including weeding, planting, pruning, deadheading, irrigation, fertilizing, pest control, spraying, trimming, etc.
  • Monitors plant health on a regular basis.
  • Maintains areas of responsibility in a clean and formal manner with respect to the garden mission and design and Cheekwood’s standards for horticulture excellence.
  • Motivates, trains, and supervises paid and unpaid garden staff, including seasonal interns and volunteers in assigned areas of responsibilities as well as works with volunteers.
  • Assists in overall garden operations including coordinating all staff work plans, irrigation schedules, routine and cyclic maintenance plans with Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager.
  • Provides project management assistance for major garden projects within the garden.
  • Manages the daily oversight of the care and maintenance of the Robertson Ellis Color Garden, and other assigned garden areas.
  • Works to maximize the quantity of work produced and conscious of efficient time management. Must be flexible to work in an ever-changing environment and juggling tasks.
  • Responsible for maintaining records of work and job activities in assigned areas of the gardens.
  • Responsible for maintaining plant labels, plant records, plant inventories, and interpretation in assigned areas of the gardens. Request plant labels as needed and complete accession forms on new plant material.
  • Identifies special needs for immediate management action, including hazard limb removal, health and safety issues, invasive plant control, pest problems, and irrigation failures.  Reports these needs and concerns to the Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager.
  • Interacts with Cheekwood visitors and constituents in various ways, including answering plant related questions, doing presentations, and providing private tours for special guests.
  • Develops and manages budgets related to areas of responsibility.
  • Operates and is responsible for the daily care of the following landscape maintenance equipment:  Backpack blower, rototiller, Cushman Truckster, E-Z-Go Truckster, Weedeater, etc.
  • Responsible for securing all equipment at the end of each day and notifying the appropriate supervisor of any supply needs.
  • Participates in meetings as needed.
  • Works on special project needs determined by the Botanical Garden and Horticulture Manager.
  • Assists coworkers with special projects as needed.
  • Confers with others in the industry about new plants and ideas.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate will have an associate or bachelor of science/arts degree or equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience and at least 1-2 years’ experience minimum with a 4-year degree in an appropriate field, or at least five years’ experience with a 2-year degree in horticulture or other related field. The Horticulturist must have eye and appreciation for detail, knowledge of landscape maintenance, a vast plant palette to include annuals, herbaceous perennials, and woody plants and the ability to research the needs of individual crops and suggest suitable plants for display. Design skills are a plus. Must have interest in growing with the organization, possess a responsible professional attitude towards career and the ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Must be willing to work in all types of weather conditions and have a valid Tennessee pesticide applicator certification or willing to obtain one within one year of employment.  PART-TIME SECURITY ATTENDANT
Cheekwood is seeking several experienced Security Attendants. Working under the direction of the Security & Safety Manager, this position will be responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment.

• Will protect the art by ensuring that no one touches or moves the art and reports any problems promptly to the Security Manager.
• Responsible for maintaining a clean neat uniform and appearance to reflect a professional image.
• Positive interaction with the public answering questions and giving directions.
• Attendants are required to always maintain a calm friendly and professional demeanor, in all situations, while providing exceptional customer service.
• First responder to incidents as needed-attendants should know the location of every fire extinguisher and first aid kits. Incident response time should be quick while maintaining continual radio contact with the Security Base. Incidents reports will be completed accurately and turned in immediately to the Security Manager.
• Must maintain a valid unarmed security license from the State of Tennessee at all times. 

Qualifications: High School diploma, or equivalent, and a valid State of Tennessee Security Unarmed Guard License and Driver’s License. Must have the ability to multi-task and endure long periods of standing or sitting, based on assigned post. Security level experience in the Entertainment or Hospitality Industry is a plus.
